⇒ Day1: Marrakech » High Atlas » Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah » Bomalen Dades [ 315 km]

The 3 Days tour from Marrakech to Fes via desert, starts from your Riad. Your driver guide from Morocco itinerary will come to pick you up after breakfast for the onward journey to Bomalen Dades. Today we will go high up over the Atlas Mountains. At the 2260 m high Tizi-n-Tichka (Tizi (Berber) = pass) we stop and enjoy the breathtaking panorama. We continue to the “Ksar Aît Benhaddou” (Ksar = settlement). This enchanting still original place in old clay construction has already served as a backdrop for many famous films (most recently “The Game of Thrones”). We continue to Ouarzazate, the Moroccan movie metropolis that matches this old settlement we just visited.

The next stop is the Valley of Roses. Here, the local offerings will make the hearts of herbal enthusiasts beat faster. Rose perfume. soap. And body cream. Even the precious essential oil can be purchased here at a reasonable price. Now we are on the road of 1000 Kasbahs – a region that gives an idea of how important and sometimes hotly contested the former trade route along the river oases was. After a few more visits along the way, we arrive in Boumalne du Dades in the evening. We will stop at a typical hotel or riad.

And right after that, we stop at another gorge: The Todgha Gorge – at 1550 m.a.s.l. It is located at the foothills of the High Atlas and starts in the Berber town of Tinghir. Also, on the way to Merzouga, there are many bizarre rock formations, but also wide oasis valleys and of course, old Kasbahs to see. We will take you to your hotel or desert camp directly at the edge of the Sahara. Behind your hotel, the first golden dunes are already rising. A camel ride to the sunset over the dunes awaits you. Be sure to take your camera to capture this special moment.

⇒ Day 3: Merzouga Desert » Midelt » Ifrane » Fes [ 476 km]

Today we set off early a long road to Fez lies ahead of us. After a wonderful view stop of Ziz Valley, a thousand palm trees are scattered here and there. Once again, we cross the Atlas Mountains – the Middle Atlas – stopping not only for a snack but also for short breathers at breathtaking viewpoints. The highlight will be the drive through Ifrane National Park one of the largest Moroccan cedar forests. If we are lucky, we will encounter the famous Barbary macaques that have migrated as far as Gibraltar. Feeding is allowed here, but still caution is advised.

The way leads us further through Moroccan Switzerland. It is green (or white in winter). The houses in the adapted alpine style do not seem to belong here. Even cows are not rare here (but camels are). We stop briefly in the mountain town of Ifrane. Then we descend again on the other side of the mountains to Fez.
